[非公開] And another…Uchida is off to Germany
It’s turning into a bit of a mass exodus of Japanese players to Europe, with another heading off for the bright lights of the German Bundesliga this week – Atsuto Uchida will leave Kashima Antlers to play for Schalke this season. Schalke are no small fish, having finished second behind Bayern Munich last season they will be playing in the Champions League this year. Uchida has signed a three..Japan World Cup Team Blog|2010-07-15 11:11 pm推薦 -
[非公開] Were the Blue Samurai sharp or blunt?
The South African adventure has come to an end for the 23 players involved. Some have of course been involved more than others, with 6 players playing every minute (the back 5, plus Honda), while 5 saw no action at all. So how did they get on individually? Well my brief opinions are below, but no doubt we’ll all have slightly differing views on several of them, so let me know what you think ..Japan World Cup Team Blog|2010-07-01 07:43 pm推薦 -
[非公開] Konno injured “for two weeks”
So Yasuyuki Konno knacked his knee against the Ivory Coast yesterday but no decision has been made yet about whether to replace him or not. Coach Okada said… “It is ligament damage so it’s doubtful he will play in the first game. This kind of injury normally takes two weeks to heal.” “There is still time so we’ll have a look at him over the next two or three days. He was walking af..Japan World Cup Team Blog|2010-06-05 09:10 pm推薦 -
[非公開] Another loss, African style this time
Japan’s final World Cup warm-up match ended in another defeat, this time 2-0 to the Ivory Coast. The goals came courtesy of an early strike in the 13th minute from Didier Drogba another Tulio own goal (this is becoming a habit!), and a second on 79 minutes from Kolo Toure. This time Tulio’s own goal was a deflection from a Drogba free-kick – let’s just hope he’s getting all these thin..Japan World Cup Team Blog|2010-06-04 09:29 pm推薦 -

[非公開] Who will be in the final 23?
It’s almost time for the squad announcement, with Takeshi Okada set to name names on May 10th. I’d previously thought that this would be a provisional 30 man squad, as the likes of England are doing, which would then be trimmed down to 23 by 1st June, the FIFA deadline. But some news outlets state otherwise so it seems I was making assumptions, and in fact Okada will be naming his final 2..Japan World Cup Team Blog|2010-05-05 11:58 pm推薦 -
[非公開] Japan v. Serbia mini preview
Ok so this match isn’t exactly what we’d been hoping for from our World Cup warm-up fixtures, an under strength Japan taking on a severely under strength Serbia, but let’s take a more positive outlook on it all. This match does provide the opportunity for players (on both sides) to stake their claim for a World Cup place in the absence of some of the more established players. We’ve had ..Japan World Cup Team Blog|2010-04-06 04:29 am推薦 -
[非公開] The Case for the Defence – Japan Squad
Moving on from looking at Japan’s goalkeepers, let’s take a look at those who may or may not be charged with defending the line for Japan in the World Cup. The Centre Backs are the easiest to cover, particularly since one of them is the captain. Yuji Nakazawa of Yokohama F. Marinos may be about to turn 32 but he’s still the rock on which Japan’s defence is built. Nakazawa also has a h..Japan World Cup Team Blog|2010-02-21 08:25 pm推薦
